Shiny Pokemon haven't been officially confirmed for Pokopia yet, but the franchise hasn't shipped a game without them since Gold and Silver in 1999. This guide covers what we know so far about shiny hunting in Pokopia, from expected odds to the game mechanics most likely to affect your hunts. We'll update with confirmed data once the game drops on March 5.

Does Pokopia Have Shiny Pokemon?#

Every Pokemon game since Gen II has included shiny variants. That's over 25 years of sparkly alternate colors, and Game Freak hasn't broken that streak yet. There's no reason to think Pokopia will be the first.

Pokopia's roster includes around 125 Pokemon, from returning favorites like Pikachu and Charmander to brand-new regional variants. If past games are any indicator, each of these should have a shiny form. The Pokemon GO Pokopia Celebration event (March 10-16) already features boosted shiny rates for Sudowoodo and Zorua, which confirms the shiny concept is tied to Pokopia's launch.

We don't have the confirmed full shiny list yet. Check our Pokopia Pokedex for the complete roster once the game goes live.

Expected Shiny Odds#

The standard shiny rate since Pokemon X and Y has been 1 in 4,096 per encounter. Before Gen VI, it was double that at 1 in 8,192. Pokopia could follow either model, but recent trends favor the friendlier odds.

Pokopia doesn't have random wild battles. Pokemon appear in the overworld and you befriend them instead of catching them. So "encounters" probably happen when a Pokemon first spawns in your habitat, not during combat. This is closer to how Legends: Arceus handled shinies, where you could spot alternate colors before initiating contact.
