Base Stats
Speed and Defense carry most of Whimsicott's stat budget. HP's the obvious dump stat. Moderately hard to find and yields 2 Speed EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
As long as this Pokémon bathes in sunlight, its cotton keeps growing. If too much cotton fluff builds up, Whimsicott tears it off and scatters it.
Whimsicott Guide
Prankster changes the entire equation for Whimsicott. The 480 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a pivot.
Watch for Roserade (Poison), Blaziken (Fire), and Weavile (Ice) when using Whimsicott. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Roserade is the most dangerous since Poison moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Prankster is what you want on Whimsicott. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Infiltrator, Chlorophyll) work on paper but Prankster is what makes Whimsicott worth using.
Base 116 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Whimsicott is a special attacker with base 77 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a pivot.
Run Moonblast, Encore, Leech Seed, and Giga Drain on Whimsicott. Moonblast is the most common pick at 0% usage. Moonblast provides reliable STAB damage.
Game Availability
Whimsicott joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 6 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
