Tropius Weakness
Ice, Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock moves hit Tropius for super-effective damage. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Ground-type moves can't touch it at all.

How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed Tropius easily with 67 breeding partners from the Plant and Monster egg groups. Pass egg moves like Bullet Seed, Curse, Dragon Dance and 10 more to offspring.
USUM Tropius Best Moveset
Grass/Flying at 99 HP with AbilityChlorophyll doubling Speed in sun, AbilitySolar Power boosting Sp. Atk in sun, and AbilityHarvest recycling berries as a hidden ability. 72 Sp. Atk even under Solar Power boost lacks the power the format demands. The moveset has multiple sun abilities on insufficient stats.

Moves List
Without breeding, Tropius misses out on Bullet Seed and Curse. That's 13 egg moves adding depth that the base kit lacks. STAB comes from Leaf Storm and Solar Beam, with Normal and Dark coverage and more rounding things out.

Tropius Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Guide
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Don't let Tropius's 460 base stat total fool you. Chlorophyll is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier. Leech Seed with Sitrus Berry is the standard set.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, watch for Lapras (Ice), Charizard (Fire), and Nidoking (Poison) when using Tropius. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Lapras is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Run Chlorophyll on Tropius. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Tropius also gets Solar Power and Harvest, but they don't compare.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Tropius fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 72 Sp. Atk. At base 51 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, run Leech Seed, Air Slash, Protect, and Substitute on Tropius. Leech Seed is the most common pick at 0% usage. This set covers the balanced role with a mix of damage and utility.
