Is Tauros Good in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Playthrough?

Breed-only. AbilityIntimidate and good speed made Tauros a Gen 1 legend, but Hoenn's power curve has moved past it. Normal typing has no gym advantages, and the E4 doesn't favor it either.

This Pokémon is not satisfied unless it is rampaging at all times. If there is no opponent for Tauros to battle, it will charge at thick trees and knock them down to calm itself.

Pokemon Omega Ruby / Pokemon Alpha Sapphire

Tauros Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Guide

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Tauros looks average on paper at 490 BST. But Intimidate is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier sweeper on our tier list. Earthquake with Assault Vest is the standard set.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Tauros's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Tauros gets Intimidate, Anger Point, and Sheer Force. But Intimidate is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. With base 110 Speed, Intimidate gives Tauros an edge before opponents can react.

  • Tauros is a physical attacker with base 100 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.

  • For Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, the core moveset is Earthquake, Rock Slide, Ironhead, and Body Slam. Earthquake leads at 0% usage. This set covers the sweeper role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Available since Red & Blue, Tauros appears in 20 games spanning 10 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Paldean form in Generation 9.
