Is Stantler Good in Black 2 & White 2 Playthrough?

Transfer only. Normal with AbilityIntimidate. No evolution. If imported, AbilityIntimidate plus decent mixed offenses contribute through mid-game. Falls behind stronger options by the E4.

How to Get Stantler in Black 2 & White 2

Stantler can't be caught in Black 2 & White 2. Bring it over from Gold & Silver, Crystal, or Scarlet & Violet instead. The encounter info below covers the source games.

Stantler cannot be caught in the wild in Black 2 & White 2, but you can still get it via these paths:

Catch in the wild and trade from these games:

Then trade to Black 2 & White 2.

Stantler Weakness

Type-wise, Stantler takes extra damage from Fighting. Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Sap Sipper grants an additional Grass immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Stantler leans offensive (base 95 Atk) rather than trying to tank its weaknesses.

AbilityIntimidate drops Attack on the switch, and 95 Attack at 85 Speed fires Normal TermStab at functional power. AbilitySap Sipper as a hidden ability absorbs Grass for an Attack boost. The moveset answers Grass types and checks physical attackers, but 73 HP and 62 Defense limit the physical bulk.

Pokemon Black 2 / Pokemon White 2

Stantler Black 2 & White 2 Guide

  • In Black 2 & White 2, Stantler isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Wyrdeer to unlock its full potential. At 465 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • In Black 2 & White 2, Stantler's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In Black 2 & White 2, Run Intimidate on Stantler. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Stantler also gets Frisk and Sap Sipper, but they don't compare.

  • In Black 2 & White 2, Sap Sipper is the hidden ability. It absorbs grass moves, raising Attack one stage. Worth hunting for if you want Stantler to compete at a higher level.

  • In Black 2 & White 2, Stantler fills the balanced role. It's a physical attacker with base 95 Attack. Base 85 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

Game Availability

Stantler has been available in 17 games since Gold & Silver, though obtaining it requires an item-based evolution. This extra step makes it less common than Pokemon found through standard wild encounters.
