Shelgon Evolutions
Shelgon is the middle stage between Bagon and Salamence. It's a three-stage line with one more evolution to go. For breeding, takes forever to hatch with plenty of partners via one egg group. Defense has grown the most so far (+40), but there's still another 180 stats to gain in the final evolution. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Shelgon to get Bagon eggs using 57 partners from the Dragon egg group. Notable egg moves include Defense Curl, Dragon Dance, Dragon Pulse and 7 more.

Moves List
Egg moves make a real difference. Shelgon gets Defense Curl and Dragon Dance exclusively through breeding, filling gaps that TMs and level-up can't touch. Coverage across 9 types rounds out the picture alongside Draco Meteor and Outrage.

The cells within its body are changing at a bewildering pace. Its hard shell is made from the same substance as bone.
Shelgon lives deep within caves. It stays shut up in its hard shell, dreaming of the day it will be able to fly.
Shelgon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Guide
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Shelgon isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Salamence to unlock its full potential. At 420 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Rock Head is the go-to ability for Shelgon. It protects against recoil damage. Its hidden ability Overcoat can work in specific setups.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Shelgon fills the support role. It's a physical attacker with base 95 Attack. Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Shelgon does the job early-game if you need a Dragon type on your team. Evolve it into Salamence before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.
Game Availability
Shelgon first appeared in Ruby & Sapphire and has been available in 16 games across 8 generations. Obtainable through catching or hatching as a base form in most titles where it appears.
