Omanyte Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Guide
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Omanyte isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Omastar to unlock its full potential. At 355 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Omanyte's biggest threats include Venusaur (Grass), Jolteon (Electric), and Hitmonlee (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Venusaur is the most dangerous since Grass moves deal 4x damage. Ground-type attackers are also a problem. At base 35 Speed, Omanyte won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Revive from a fossil at the Devon Corporation in Rustboro City. Fossils found by Rock Smash in Mirage Spots.. Omanyte is revived at level 5. Give it Rare Candies or experience-share if you want it ready for the late-game.
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Run Swift Swim on Omanyte. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Omanyte also gets Shell Armor and Weak Armor, but they don't compare.
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Omanyte fills the trick room role. It's a special attacker with base 90 Sp. Atk. Base 35 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.
Game Availability
