Mewtwo Weakness

Type-wise, Mewtwo takes extra damage from Bug, Ghost, and Dark. Mewtwo's special bulk (base 120 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

A Pokémon created by recombining Mew’s genes. It’s said to have the most savage heart among Pokémon.

Mewtwo X & Y Guide

  • In X & Y, Mewtwo is a Legendary Pokemon rated S-Tier. At 780 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a sweeper. Psystrike with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In X & Y, yes. Mewtwo has two Mega forms: Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. Both hit 880 BST. X and Y push the build in different directions, so pick based on what your team needs. One Mega per battle.

  • In X & Y, Mewtwo's biggest threats include Scyther (Bug), Misdreavus (Ghost), and Tyranitar (Dark), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.

  • Mewtwo is a static encounter at Kalos Unknown Dungeon in X & Y. Mewtwo appears at level 70. Prerequisite: Post-game, Unknown Dungeon in Pokemon Village. Save before the encounter. These one-shot Pokemon don't respawn if you knock them out or run out of Poke Balls.

  • Insomnia is the go-to ability for Mewtwo. It prevents sleep. It's Mewtwo's only ability.

Game Availability

Mewtwo has appeared in 21 games since Red & Blue, spanning 10 generations. As a Legendary, it's typically a one-per-save encounter tied to the story or post-game content.
