How to Get Magmortar in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
The chain to Magmortar requires a trade evolution through a trade. Catch Magby at solid rates and level through the stages, but line up the trade first. The rest of the chain runs on levels alone.
Magmortar Weakness
Magmortar's Fire typing leaves it vulnerable to Water, Ground, and Rock. It resists 6 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Magmortar's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Grass, Ice, Bug, Steel, Fairy |

Magmortar Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Guide
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Magmortar works as a wallbreaker with 540 BST behind it. C-Tier on our list: a niche pick in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire's meta. Thunderbolt with Assault Vest is the standard set.
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, watch for Milotic (Water), Golem (Ground), and Aerodactyl (Rock) when using Magmortar. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB.
No. Magmortar is not catchable in the wild. It only comes from trade-evolving Magmar. Trade needs a Game Boy Advance link cable and a second GBA running another Gen 3 game (FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald). Trade Magmar to a friend, then have them trade it back. The 2026 Switch re-release supports the same trade through local wireless on the Pokemon Center 2F Wireless Club, with no cables required. The Magmarizer must be held during the trade. Bring one over from a sibling Gen 3 game if needed.
Flame Body has a 30% chance of burning attacking Pokémon on contact. That's the one you want on Magmortar. Vital Spirit is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Magmortar is a special attacker with base 125 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 83 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. Fits the wallbreaker role.
Game Availability
Since Diamond & Pearl, Magmortar has been in 13 games. Requiring a trade evolution to obtain means it's consistently available but requires more effort than simply catching it in the wild.
