Is Kecleon Good in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Playthrough?
Normal-type with AbilityColor Change shifting type to match the last move that hit it. High Special Defense but low speed. The type-shifting gimmick is unreliable in practice. Not a serious team option.
Kecleon resists most of Ilima's coverage and hits back hard.
Kecleon trades roughly evenly with Hala's team.
Kecleon has the type edge here and should clean up Lana's team.

Kecleon Weakness
Kecleon is weak to Fighting. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. Kecleon's special bulk (base 120 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

How to Evolve
USUM Kecleon Best Moveset
AbilityProtean as a hidden ability changes Kecleon's type to match every move before it attacks, giving TermStab on everything. 120 Sp. Def absorbs special hits. But 90 Attack and 40 Speed mean the moveset hits hard only if it survives to the turn, and 40 Speed guarantees it usually does not.
Best Build
Kecleon best EVs are HP and Sp. Def

Moves List
The TM pool is where it gets interesting. Coverage across 12 types means almost nothing walls Kecleon cleanly, with Last Resort and Slash anchoring the STAB side. Matchup flexibility isn't a problem.

Kecleon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Guide
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Kecleon's biggest threats include Hitmonlee (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 40 Speed, Kecleon won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Kecleon can work for a story run. 440 BST is average, but Normal typing fills a niche depending on your team composition.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Protean changes the entire equation for Kecleon. The 440 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a trick room. Poweruppunch with Mental Herb is the standard set.
Protean is what you want on Kecleon. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Color Change) work on paper but Protean is what makes Kecleon worth using.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Protean is the hidden ability. It changes the bearer's type to match each move it uses. Worth hunting for if you want Kecleon to compete at a higher level.
