Partway through Turtwig's chain. Grotle still has another evolution ahead before reaching Torterra. For breeding, average hatch time with plenty of partners via two egg groups. Attack has grown the most so far (+21), but there's still another 120 stats to gain in the final evolution. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.

Grotle Black 2 & White 2 Guide
Grotle is meant to evolve into Torterra. At 405 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
In Black 2 & White 2, Grotle's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Cloyster (Ice), and Crobat (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 36 Speed, Grotle won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Overgrow is the go-to ability for Grotle. It strengthens grass moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Shell Armor can work in specific setups.
Base 36 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Grotle is a physical attacker with base 89 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a trick room.
For Black 2 & White 2, you can run Grotle through the first few routes without issues. 405 BST won't carry you far though. Get it to Torterra as fast as you can.
Game Availability
Available in 12 titles since its debut in Diamond & Pearl, Grotle spans 7 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through catching or hatching as a base form in a solid number of games.
