Is Fletchinder Good in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Playthrough?

Fire/Flying from a traded Fletchling. AbilityFlame Body hatches eggs faster and burns on contact. Push to Talonflame at 35 for speed. Torchic's line already covers Fire/Flying natively though.

Pokedex Entry

From its beak, it expels embers that set the tall grass on fire. Then it pounces on the bewildered prey that pop out of the grass.

The hotter the flame sac on its belly, the faster it can fly, but it takes some time to get the fire going.

Fletchinder Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Guide

  • At 382 BST, Fletchinder is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Talonflame before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Fletchinder's biggest threats include Tyranitar (Rock), Swampert (Water), and Rotom (Electric), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Tyranitar is the most dangerous since Rock moves deal 4x damage.

  • Flame Body is the go-to ability for Fletchinder. It has a 30% chance of burning attacking Pokémon on contact. Its hidden ability Gale Wings can work in specific setups.

  • Fletchinder is a physical attacker with base 73 Attack. Fragile, can't afford to take many hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 84 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, For a casual playthrough, Fletchinder works as a placeholder. Fire/Flying coverage is useful early. The real payoff is Talonflame. That's where the stats start mattering.

Game Availability

Since X & Y, Fletchinder has been obtainable in 7 games. A Generation 6 debut means a shorter history, but Fletchinder has appeared steadily across every generation since.
