Step 3Evolve into Samurott
You're catching Oshawott first, not Dewott. Oshawott appears in the wild in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 3-stage chain with evolution methods between each stage.
Base Stats
An unusually even spread gives Dewott flexibility. Sp. Atk barely edges ahead. But Defense isn't far off. Tough to catch and follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve. Yields 2 Sp. Atk EVs.
Its exquisite double-scalchop technique is likely the result of daily training, and it can send even masters of the blade fleeing in defeat.
Dewott Guide
Dewott is meant to evolve into Samurott. At 413 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Torrent is the go-to ability for Dewott. It strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Shell Armor can work in specific setups.
At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Dewott is a mixed attacker with base 75 Attack and 83 Sp. Atk.
You can run Dewott through the first few routes without issues. 413 BST won't carry you far though. Get it to Samurott as fast as you can.
Game Availability
Dewott joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 6 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
