Brute Bonnet Best Moveset

Grass/Dark at 127 Attack and 111 HP with AbilityProtosynthesis boosting the highest stat under sun. The moveset fires physical Grass and Dark TermStab at decent power. 99/99 balanced defenses provide real bulk. 55 Speed means going second. D-Tier because the Speed and seven weaknesses undercut the offensive stats.

Gen IX — Scarlet & Violet / Legends Z-AD

Brute Bonnet sat at D-Tier in Gen IX. This was Brute Bonnet's competitive peak. Its most popular set ran Protosynthesis with Booster Energy, favoring a Adamant nature.

Brute Bonnet Weakness

Type-wise, Brute Bonnet takes extra damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, Fighting, Poison, Flying, and Fairy. Watch out for Bug attacks, those deal 4x damage. Psychic moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. It resists 6 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Brute Bonnet's overall bulk (111/99/99) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Base Stats

Brute Bonnet's built to absorb hits, not race for knockouts. Balanced defenses with Attack doing the heavy lifting. And the slow 1.25M XP grind means it won't take forever to bring up, worth 3 Attack EVs.

Brute Bonnet Guide

  • Brute Bonnet works as a wallbreaker with 570 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list: a solid choice for the right team. That 127 base Attack does the heavy lifting.

  • Brute Bonnet's biggest threats include Heracross (Bug), Blaziken (Fire), and Weavile (Ice), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Heracross is the most dangerous since Bug moves deal 4x damage. Fighting, Poison, Flying, and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 7 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Brute Bonnet has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.

  • Protosynthesis is the go-to ability for Brute Bonnet. It raises highest stat in harsh sunlight, or if holding Booster Energy. It's Brute Bonnet's only ability.

  • Brute Bonnet is a mixed attacker with base 127 Attack and 79 Sp. Atk. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the wallbreaker role.

  • The core moveset is Sucker Punch, Seedbomb, Close Combat, and Growth. Sucker Punch leads at 0% usage. Growth lets it set up before sweeping.

Game Availability

Since Scarlet & Violet, Brute Bonnet has been obtainable in 1 games. A Generation 9 debut means a shorter history, but Brute Bonnet has appeared steadily across every generation since.
