Is Archeops Good in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Playthrough?

Archeops's 140 Attack and 112 Special Attack are among the highest for non-legendaries. AbilityDefeatist gutting power below half HP is the trade-off. A glass cannon that dominates when healthy and collapses when damaged. High risk, high reward through the entire game.

Archeops Weakness

Archeops's Rock/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Water, Electric, Ice, Rock, and Steel. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely. It resists 5 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Archeops leans offensive (base 140 Atk) rather than trying to tank its weaknesses.

ORAS Archeops Best Moveset

140 Attack and 112 Sp. Atk at 110 Speed fire mixed Rock/Flying TermStab at enormous power. AbilityDefeatist halves both offenses below 50%% HP. The moveset earns C-tier through first-hit devastation, but Defeatist means any chip damage cuts the offense in half with no way to recover.

Moves List

Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Archeops won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 11 types means it always has an effective option. Head Smash and Sky Attack anchor the STAB core.

They are intelligent and will cooperate to catch prey. From the ground, they use a running start to take flight.

It runs better than it flies. It takes off into the sky by running at a speed of 25 mph.

Archeops Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Guide

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Archeops has a 567 base stat total and ranks as B-Tier: a solid option in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire for the right team. It works best as a sweeper. Stealth Rock with Focus Sash is the standard set.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, watch for Milotic (Water), Jolteon (Electric), and Kyurem (Ice) when using Archeops. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Rock and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Archeops's base 110 Speed lets it outpace many threats and strike first, which matters more than trying to tank hits.

  • Defeatist halves Attack and Special Attack at 50% max HP or less. That's the one you want on Archeops. It's the only ability Archeops has.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Archeops fills the sweeper role. It's a physical attacker with base 140 Attack. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, run Stealth Rock, Acrobatics, Head Smash, and Stone Edge on Archeops. Stealth Rock is the most common pick at 0% usage. Acrobatics provides reliable STAB damage.

Game Availability

Introduced in Black & White, Archeops has appeared in 7 games across 6 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
