Base Stats
The stat line revolves around HP. Percentage recovery gets extra mileage here. Sp. Atk backs it up, though Speed doesn't pull its weight. Worth 2 HP EVs on a standard growth curve to max out.
When some Lechonk come along to lick the sweet nectar on Appletun’s back, Appletun will spew sticky nectar at them to drive them away.
Appletun Guide
Appletun looks average on paper at 485 BST. But Thick Fat is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier attacker on our tier list.
Appletun's biggest threats include Walrein (Ice), Crobat (Poison), and Staraptor (Flying), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Walrein is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Bug, Dragon, and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 30 Speed, Appletun won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Appletun gets Thick Fat, Ripen, and Gluttony. But Thick Fat is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Appletun is a special attacker with base 100 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the attacker role.
The core moveset is Appleacid, Leech Seed, Recover, and Dragon Pulse. Appleacid leads at 0% usage. This set covers the attacker role with a mix of damage and utility.
Game Availability
Available since Sword & Shield, Appletun appears in 2 games spanning 3 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Gigantamax form in Generation 8.
