USUM Altaria Best Moveset
Mega Altaria gains Fairy typing and AbilityPixilate converting Normal moves to Fairy with a power boost, turning MoveReturn into the strongest physical Fairy attack available from 110 Attack. Without the Mega Stone, 70/70 offenses at 80 Speed leave the base moveset unable to threaten. D-tier through Mega-dependent identity.

In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Natural Cure changes the entire equation for Altaria. The 490 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier. Earthquake with Leftovers is the standard set.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Altaria can Mega Evolve into Mega Altaria. That's 590 BST, up from 490. The stat redistribution often changes its best role. Mega Stone required, one per battle.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Altaria's biggest threats include Cloyster (Ice), Aerodactyl (Rock), and Salamence (Dragon), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Cloyster is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Fairy-type attackers are also a problem.
Altaria is a static encounter at Alola Ultra Space Wilds in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Altaria appears at level 60. Prerequisite: UNCOMMON. Save before the encounter. These one-shot Pokemon don't respawn if you knock them out or run out of Poke Balls.
Natural Cure is what you want on Altaria. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Cloud Nine) work on paper but Natural Cure is what makes Altaria worth using.
