Stall teams hate this. Aerodactyl can spread damage across 10 types, with Dark and Steel punishing common defensive pivots. STAB from Sky Attack and Meteor Beam keeps the pressure honest on everything else.

Aerodactyl Legends: Z-A Guide

  • In Legends: Z-A, Tough Claws changes the entire equation for Aerodactyl. The 615 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier as a sweeper. Dualwingbeat with Focus Sash is the standard set.

  • Mega Evolution isn't available in Legends: Z-A, but Aerodactyl does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Aerodactyl hits 715 BST.

  • In Legends: Z-A, Aerodactyl's biggest threats include Gyarados (Water), Raikou (Electric), and Lapras (Ice), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Rock and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Tough Claws is what you want on Aerodactyl. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. With base 150 Speed, Tough Claws gives Aerodactyl an edge before opponents can react.

  • Base 150 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Aerodactyl is a physical attacker with base 135 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a sweeper.

Game Availability

Since debuting in Red & Blue, Aerodactyl has appeared in 20 titles over 10 generations. Along the way, it received a Mega form in Generation 6, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
