What Do QR Codes Do In Pokemon Sun and Moon?
Pokemon Sun and Moon QR Codes will reveal Pokemon Locations within the game. These QR Codes come in the form of scannable images, which can easily be scanned using the 3DS camera.
- First, when you scan a QR Code it will register that specific Pokemon species within your Alola Pokedex.
- Second and more important, Scanning a QR Code reveals the Pokemon Location. With this information, you can find then catch that Pokemon.
How Do I Scan QR Codes?
- Open the Menu.
- Navigate to the second page and choose QR Scanner Option.
- Shortly after the camera will activate, simply place the Pokemon Sun and Moon QR Code in front of the camera and snap.

Important Note:
- The QR Code Scanner can only be used 10 times in 1 day.
- You can only Scan once every 2 hours.
- Every QR Code Scan will award you with 10 Points.
- 100 of these points will allow you to use the Island Scan Feature.
- Island Scan reveals a non-alolan Pokemon, you will a limited time to then catch that revealed Pokemon.
What Is The Island Scan Feature?
We mentioned above how every Pokemon Sun and Moon QR Code Scan will award players with 10 points and at 100 they will be able to use the Island Scan Feature.
- Once you have used the Island Scan Feature it will reveal a non-Alolan Pokemon on your current Island.
- You will have only 1 Hour to travel to the Pokemon’s Location and attempt to catch it.
